The first stop on our Italian Urbex tour the abandoned Mono Orphanage aka Crying Baby Hospital. Despite the beds being gone there were still plenty of things to shoot here including a couple of classrooms complete with children’s stools and desks and a medical room with a dentist type chair and several bottles of unknown liquids…
Hospital Plaza is a rather large complex which features seemingly endless corridors full of bedrooms or wards, a large theatre room and a stunning chapel which remains in near perfect condition. This building from what I understand was once a private residence but was later used as a retirement home / residential care centre which catered for the elderly in their final days. Despite its name there was little evidence to suggest that this building functioned as anything other than a care home. There were a couple of beds in the basement which could have been consultation tables but I would suspect that few medical treatments would have taken place here…
At the south eastern part of the Beelitz site you can find one of the most interesting and visually appealing of the Hospital buildings, Zentral Badehaus the Central Bath House. Whilst one of the iconic features of this building is the stunning huge domed room with the sunken T shaped bath, this unaltered example of the original architecture is just one of the many rooms which contain amazing detail retained from the initial build…
The Partially abandoned Salve Mater Hospital was a psychiatric hospital which catered specifically for women. The complex opened in 1927 and was established by the Sisters of Mercy. The Main administration building closed in 1997. The final patients left hospital in 2007 which left the remaining buildings unoccupied…

Briefly, the abandoned St Joseph’s College, Upholland is a former Roman Catholic seminary, situated at Walthew Park, Upholland, Lancashire, England. The foundation of the large building were laid in April 1880 and college was opened in 1883. The last students left Upholland in 1992 and the building has been empty since 1999.

The now abandoned St Georges Asylum near Morpeth also known as The Northumberland County Pauper Lunatic Asylum first opened on the 16th March 1859.
