Briefly the abandoned Ushaw College, a former Catholic seminary was founded in 1808 by scholars from English College, Douai, who had fled France after that college had been closed during the French Revolution. Ushaw College had been affiliated with the University of Durham since 1968…
The Pigeon Church, a small abandoned church in Belgium. Unassuming from the outside, this Church was actually quite photogenic inside albeit completely full of pigeon poo!
Lowri and I explored this abandoned chapel in Wales towards the end of 2016. Disused for a long time, the chapel itself was free from vandalism and graffiti and only natural decay could be found inside. The turquoise painted plaster ceilings were a joy to shoot along with the stained wood of the pews and altar area. The organ was in great condition considering the weather damage to the building and the light was perfect when we visited.
History of St Joseph’s RC Church The Church was completed in April 1872. In 1874 the site saw the addition of a school building thanks to support from the parishioners. The building was soon replaced with the one which stands today in 1978 when the old construction was found to be too small to accommodate…
Not much to say about this little old chapel. Clearly abandoned for some time, this chapel was located in the middle of a graveyard somewhere in the UK. Suffering from years of neglect, the building was in very poor condition and was falling apart…
An old decaying Blue & Green chapel in some random little village in Wales, I often remember walking past this one when I was young and wondering what it would look like inside…
A small abandoned chapel in Wales, completely out of sight, barely occupying a small clearing in the tightly packed undergrowth this little chapel was in surprisingly good condition given that it clearly hadn’t been used for decades. The light was nice and subtle on the overcast day which made this one a joy to shoot!
The ET Church in France, I think quite a few people were under the impression that this place was abandoned but after researching the place a little it became obvious the place was not empty…
The now abandoned Wavertree Memorial Church aka Protestant Martyrs Memorial Church in Liverpool was founded in 1903 and closed in 2004…
The abandoned Loxley chapel was built in Sheffield in 1787 and closed more than 200 years later in 1993. Since then the grounds and graveyards have become overgrown and the building has started to suffer from lack of maintenance and vandalism…
Briefly, the abandoned St Joseph’s College, Upholland is a former Roman Catholic seminary, situated at Walthew Park, Upholland, Lancashire, England. The foundation of the large building were laid in April 1880 and college was opened in 1883. The buildings have recently been deconsecrated following the announced closure of the College which saw the last students leave in 1992.
Convento dei P, an abandoned convent in Italy. Featuring a rather lavish tall and narrow chapel with balconies and a walkway around the top this place was much more impressive than I had imagined…
The Blue Chapel Monastery in Italy sits abandoned and features a bright blue chapel with a very large cross hanging from the ceiling. The chapel itself is the main point of interest in the place as the rest of the building was pretty well stripped back to its concrete and brick construction…
The abandoned Monastero MG in Italy is an empty, large Monastery which sits in walled grounds surrounded by a moat with a bridge to the front gate. Certainly an impressive building from many aspects the design is inconsistent and clearly shows that the building has been added to and extended multiple times in what I can imagine was a long history of this religious site…
The abandoned Villa Moglia is a large residential property surrounded by vast farmland located just outside a small village. I remeber driving on dirt tracks for quite some distance to locate this place due to its quite isolated location. Once we arrived and made our way inside we soon realised we were not alone. Its seems…
The Church of A is an Abandoned Seminary in Italy. Clearly derelict for quite some years now the majority of the building is bare with only a few chalk boards left on some of the classroom walls. There was however a nice little chapel on the ground floor with lovely decorated walls and arched ceilings and the altar still on the whole intact…
The abandoned St. Joseph Orphanage is a relatively large orphanage given the size of the small town it resides in and featured ample rooms to accommodate children as well as a small chapel on the first floor which had a lovely colour cast from the tinted windows…
Despite my numerous previous visits to St Josephs Seminary due to a combination of alarms and not having a clue where they were the infamous row of sinks had eluded me. On this visit however, we were pretty blessed to find a fault on the alarm system which appeared to have disabled the sirens, we were in luck!
The now abandoned Mount St Mary’s Church or the Church of the Immaculate Virgin Mary is a Grade II* listed building and a redundant Roman Catholic church in Leeds. It was founded in 1851 and designed by Joseph Hansom, with extensions by Edward Pugin. It is located next to Mount St Mary’s Catholic High School, Leeds…
My second trip to Greenbank Synagogue aka The Ark in Liverpool. The now abandoned building was constructed in 1936 and was used by an active congregation until 2007 when the synagogue finally closed its doors…
The abandoned Monastery Mont G. There is not a lot of information about this place that I can share a very large complex the huge chapel is flanked by corridors of rooms used for accommodation and teaching. Visited with Kriegaffe9 and Andy K as part of the ‘missing man tour’ I was really pleased to see the inside of this place, the huge chapel was quite impressive and I quite liked the ground floor corridors which were starting to show signs of decay. Enjoy the photos.
Pensionnat Catholique is an abandoned Boarding School somewhere in France. The place is huge! Complete with a large chapel which shockingly was not located on the ground floor… There was also a large sports hall and lots of sprawling corridors of classrooms and labs. Visited this time with Kriegaffe9 and Andy K as part of the ‘missing man’ tour we spent a few hours here before sunset capturing the really nice light which was streaming through the windows in the late afternoon!
Part 2 of yet another trip the The abandoned Seminary in Upholland. We were blessed with some excellent light, here are another batch of shots taken from the visit including the dormitories, ground floor corridors and the study hall. Enjoy!
