Mansfield General Hospital History
This one was a revisit and there isn’t a lot to add history or update wise so for that sort of stuff check out the post from my first visit in October 2012 here. Briefly Mansfield General Hospital was originally built in 1889 and was finally demolished over a 6 month period in 20013/20014 after being left abandoned for over 20 years.
Our Visit
I’d not long since done Mansfield but a friend was visiting from Spain filming for an upcoming documentary about Urban Exploration and had this place on his to do list so another opportunity to mooch around and snap a few more shots. Visited with Urbex Leone, Medu, Lowri, Stussy and Scattergun.
Another successful visit, covered most of the place in previous visits but found a couple of the wheelchairs that I couldn’t locate on the first revisit and found a few bits of furniture had been moved around, hight light of the trip in addition to meeting a few new people, was realising how unstable the floor was above the water filled basement and almost falling through it and the entry / exit :).
A couple of portraits and group shots:
A good day out had by all 🙂

Hi Felix,
Thanks for your comment, I cannot be sure it is not radioactive, I’d like to hope its not but I didnt have any instruments to check. I’d like to hope it is not I suspect they would have removed any radioactive materials but like you said its never a guarantee… might have to pack a lead vest for the next visit :/
All the best

Very nice pictures! I love the dark mood in it. Are you sure that the x-ray scanner is not radioactive anymore 😉 ? I mean the Goiania accident in brasil has shown that it can still be radioactive 😉
Regards,
Felix
