With limited time left at the end of our road trip a quick revisit to the IM Cooling tower was on the cards. Nothing I haven’t covered before but always a fun spot to stop off at…
The Pigeon Church, a small abandoned church in Belgium. Unassuming from the outside, this Church was actually quite photogenic inside albeit completely full of pigeon poo!
Château Pink Panther, as this place became known, was a fair-sized Château which had undergone some modernisation but also retained some of the original features. Located in an affluent area, this castle suffered a fire and was left abandoned for several years before being purchased and renovated by new owners…
This might be the last report from the abandoned Villa Heil… This quite large attractive detached house in Belgium was demolished just days after these photos were taken. In fact, during our visit when shooting the basement rooms just before we were planning to leave someone came into the building walking around the ground floor…
The abandoned Butchers House in Belgium turned out to be one of the more interesting residential explores that I have done to date. I suppose not an uncommon occurrence, this house also functioned as a butchers shop with the customer-facing area being located next to the main road and the residential areas to the side and rear of the building…
Quite likely my last visit to this Castle, for those who might not have already heard the castle is being demolished / dismantled and work began shortly after my visit last year.Plenty of photos have circulated showing the tops of the towers and turrets removed and laying on the ground as well as other clearance works on the grounds…
What’s better than a nice disused morgue… well two of them 🙂
Maison Gustaaf is another reasonably sized detached farm house which lays empty in Belgium. Inside the place is relatively untouched with all sorts of contents left behind in the bedrooms and the kitchen. Surprisingly the power still worked in a couple of rooms despite obvious signs of water damage to ceilings from the failing roof.
Von Dutchess is another large residential dwelling in Belgium which remains empty in a deteriorating condition. Beautiful from the outside the inside has been subject to vandalism and theft of parts of the structure and little contents remain.
The now abandoned Chateau Rochendaal was built in 1881 by Jean Henri Paul Ulens, a former lawyer, for himself and his cousin bride Marie. The property was then seized by the Germans during the Nazi occupation of Belgium. The Castle was apparently once a home for Otto Frieze a famous German Luftwaffe pilot who was known as the ‘Night Hunter’…
An abandoned little green house somewhere in Belgium. No much more to say than that for this one…
Cellatex SA was a French company founded in 1981 but from a company based on the site established in 1902 in Givet France which focused on the manufacture of artificial silks. The factor closed in 2000 and workers occupied the factory threatening to blow it up and pollute the water supply…
Château Rouge was once as a rehabilitation centre for children before becoming a hotel / Seminar venue. Now, it would appear, the Château is being used as an airsoft venue…
Domain M is an abandoned Hotel / Guest house which had signs of a started but abandoned renovation. Some rooms were still full of lots of ornamental and retro furnishings such as the stylish jukebox and the clock in the lounge…
An abandoned University somewhere in Belgium, the Pritzer Fac as this place is known has a real nice mix of old and new with some heavy decay in the older buildings whilst also featuring some nicely preserved areas…
Built at sometime around 1850, the now derelict Château JM sits in the middle of a host of other buildings which form part of a medial complex. The building appears to have been disused on a regular basis for quite sometime with evidence of decay setting in on some of the walls and ceilings…
The abandoned Château de la Chapelle is a large residential building which appears to have been used at some point as a hotel or bar. The building boasts its own sizeable chapel and a large basement area as well 3 floors some of which have contents remaining from the previous inhabitants…
The Partially abandoned Salve Mater Hospital was a psychiatric hospital which catered specifically for women. The complex opened in 1927 and was established by the Sisters of Mercy. The Main administration building closed in 1997. The final patients left hospital in 2007 which left the remaining buildings unoccupied…
The abandoned Château D’ah, this generously sized Château was on the list for one reason only the entrance hall decked with painted murals which contained a rather nice staircase…
Alla Italia is an abandoned Spa resort for wealthy members of a Belgian town. The resort closed after a new larger, more modern facility opened near by. The main attraction to this place is the interesting Italian themed architecture in the entrance hall which features columns and painted ceilings in a mock Italian style…
The abandoned IM Power station Cooling Tower. This place has been on the to do list for ages but its always one location that gets bumped for other spots on our trip… finally we got round to seeing it. Sat over the water from the main buildings of the power station the cooling tower is gigantic…
The abandoned Monastery Mont G. There is not a lot of information about this place that I can share a very large complex the huge chapel is flanked by corridors of rooms used for accommodation and teaching. Visited with Kriegaffe9 and Andy K as part of the ‘missing man tour’ I was really pleased to see the inside of this place, the huge chapel was quite impressive and I quite liked the ground floor corridors which were starting to show signs of decay. Enjoy the photos.
Home from a European tour for only 24 hours and I was back on the road again… back to Belgium in fact… after receiving a few messages whilst on route home I was told to repack immediately as we were going back for some more FORET!
Built in the 1920’s this abandoned house it quite sizeable and has some nice grounds but one of the more unusual features are a collection of around 7 large crosses which are about 2m in hight and are placed scattered around the house within the gardens.
The famous Horror Labs. They were top of my list of places to see for well over a year or so now and it was my most anticipated location of this trip! Along with the regulars Dystopia, Baron Scotland and Lowri, we were joined by Yann Shee for this little adventure. Once inside we went straight to see the jackpot at this place deep inside the dark basement the shelves full of preserved dead animal body parts…
