Alla Italia Entrance Hall

History

Alla Italia is an abandoned Spa resort for wealthy members of a Belgian town. The resort closed after a new larger, more modern facility opened near by. The main attraction to this place is the interesting Italian themed architecture in the entrance hall which features columns and painted ceilings in a mock Italian style. The fixtures and fitting have in the majority been removed from the building with very little evidence of its past use. From the outside the building is very unassuming and we were gob smacked when we walked into the entrance room and were greeted by the great views.

Our Visit

Visited with Andy K of Behind Closed Doors and Scott Darby as part of the ‘Grand Designs’ Tour. We arrived early and made our way inside, unsure if we had the right place at first we walked the bare halls and searched the empty rooms for this entrance hall. When we found our target we all dropped our backs and just stared at the awesome ceiling for a moment before we got our kit out and began shooting. This place had become a little popular over recent weeks and we met a further 8 or 9 European explorers who came and went during our couple of hours here. I’m glad we managed to see this one as I understand renovation works are due to commence very soon…
