History
An old abandoned geriatric Hospital which was previously a sanatorium built in 1957 and functioned for the majority of its history as a hospital for retired and elderly people, this now trashed building still contains lots of wheelchairs a reminder of what the place once was. Shortly before its closure it was been replaced by a newer building which sits directly opposite this now burnt out concrete shell of a site.
Our Visit
First successful location on the Beauty and The Beast tour, after a couple of fails earlier that morning, we found ourselves at Home Sweet Home… I had low expectations, I’d always enjoyed looking at pictures of the place but I had seen in recent reports that time had taken its toll. The Hospital has really gone down hill a lot over the years suffering heavy metal theft, vandalism and several fires by the looks of things but still it was quite enjoyable getting to see the place and take in the views from the terrace on the top floor. Shocked to see how stripped the theatre had become, most of the chairs now gone :(. Highlights were the wheelchairs and the decay starting to set in on some of the walls, its not what it used to be but I still think I’d go back.
