History
Built in the early 1800’s this beautiful building was for the majority of its occupied life an orphanage particularly catering to the children of actors. Th property was later utilised as a nursing school before closing in the 1990’s . Plans were submitted to establish a home for various types of criminal offenders during their rehabilitation period, however these plans were rejected and the property remains abandoned and empty. Most of the upstairs are stripped out with all the good stuff being located on the ground floor. The place benefited from a multi mullion pound refurbishment after it closed and its sad seeing all the money go to waste.
Our Visit
Visited with Lowri and Stussy while the other gruesome twosome were visiting somewhere else after having a little car trouble :p. My second trip here, I love it! The downstairs rooms are really beautiful and a joy to photograph. The staircase is in immaculate condition while the outer rooms are really suffering from natural decay mainly due to leak of regular heating and most likely roof leaks. True to form, Security and Police greeted us upon exit, this place is well know for the quick response times and this day they did not disappoint. I preferred the shots from my first visit but I’m pretty sure everyone got what they came to see :). Another end to a cracking day out with top company!
You can find my first visit from this place with loads more photos here: Another Orphanage, Somewhere – November 2013
