Urbex: Lotus Hall aka Cuckoo Hall, Wales – September 2013

History

The Abandoned Lotus Hall aka Cuckoo Hall. Once owned by a man who had a passion for Lotus motorcars and a wild collection of Cuckoo’s which roamed the vast estate. Rumour has it that one day the owner went on a rampage, jumped in a dark green Lotus Elise and proceeded to mow down a flock of near by Cuckoo’s. Distraught the man’s wife called the local police, who promptly carted off the old man who spent the rest of his days in a lunatic asylum. After struggling to pay for the upkeep of the house and stable blocks the lonely lady moved to Cuba to sun it up on the beach!

Our Visit

Visited with the merry band of explorers, Mars Lander, Sssshhhh, Shush, Lowri, AndyK (Behind Closed Doors Urban Exploration),  Scrappy, Easy Tiger… I know there were more that I’m forgetting… sorry. The day was full of fun, lots of pictures taken by all. Sad to see the place had taken a bit of a beating either by thieves or local youths, reports from only a couple of weeks prior showed the place in a much better light. Work had started to convert this place into a hotel but based upon the state of things when we visited it looks like things have come to a stop. Highlight of the day! rooftop picnic :D!

  1. Loved these, my favourite yet, I hope someone rescues it, it would be such a shame to see it stripped of its fetures & decay to absolute ruin & although those carpets are shocking

    1. Hi Linda,

Glad you enjoyed the report and you’re right the carpets were dreadful lol! I think rennovation works have stalled… due to the recession maybe who knows but I agree I hope it doesn’t get too far gone before its salvaged.

  2. Fabulous photos…cant believe such a stunning
old building like that is just left to rot away and be vandalised. …all that beautiful oak

    1. Thanks Oddette, it is really sad to see this place going down hill, you should see the older photos taken not long after its closure it looked so grand… It seems like someone had started to rennovate the place but works appear to have stalled 🙁
