Not going into too much detail on this one. I can say it was the Last of the great Asylums in the United Kingdom to close its doors I believe in 2012. The now abandoned site is quite large and on a scale similar to that of some of the other big asylums in the UK. Due to it being one of the last to close the interior was unsurprisingly very modern and bare with most of the equipment I suspect being moved to functioning hospitals and care home facilities shortly after closure.
The site housed a separate secure facility which is also unoccupied at present and had a lot of features similar to that of a prison including covered razor wire very high fences and security cameras. Sadly we didn’t make it inside that area but from what we could see through the windows it looked as bare as the rest of the place…
The main attraction at this place has to be the oddly decorated main hall which featured an extremely bright pink and turquoise ceiling… Another interesting point worth noting is that security are based within the building… in fact we walked above the room they reside in, tip toeing across the creaking floorboards trying not to make a sound.
