History
The full history can be found in the original visit post here. Briefly The abandoned Chocolate Works was the confectionery factory of Terry’s of York, England. Opened in 1926, it closed in 2005 with the loss of 300 jobs, with production moved to other Kraft Foods sites in mainland Europe. Today, the site is being redeveloped as a mixed-use residential/commercial real estate development.
Our Visit
With AndyK Determined to see this one we took a little drive over to see if things were accessible again… indeed they were so AndyK, Sonyes and Pete went inside the main Admin building while Philberto and I covered the main factory floors. I then decided to rejoin the other group and snap a few more shots of the awesome Titanic staircase inside the main entrance with the new 6D camera. This place never disappoints, reflections were lovely from the water on the factory floor and the admin staircase looked just as it did back in October. Another top day out :).
If you want to see more of this place check out the report from the initial visit Terry’s Chocolate, York, North Yorkshire – October 2013
