Cherry Tree Hospital<\/p><\/div>\n

History<\/strong><\/p>\n

The abandoned Cherry Tree Hospital appears to date back as far as the 1880’s and throughout its lifespan was known as The\u00a0Stockport Infectious Diseases Hospital,\u00a0Dialstone Lane Hospital,\u00a0Whitehill Sanatorium as well as its last name of\u00a0Cherry Tree Hospital. Pre 1948 its primary function was the Isolation of Tuberculosis Patients where as after this date the functions shifted to Geriatric care as well as housing a dermatology and paediatrics department. The majority of the site closed in 1995 however some buildings remain open to this day. The derelict ones are falling into a very bad state. Metal theft has been rift and the roofs are falling apart. I suspect demolition will be the only future for this one.<\/p>\n

Our Visit<\/strong><\/p>\n

Visited with\u00a0AndyK, Kriegaffe9 and Lowri, there’s no hiding the fact that this place was a bit of a disappointment. Still, I managed to bag a couple of photos. The wards weren’t too bad as well as the corridor with the beds in but most of the buildings were bare, poorly lit and lacking of any real character :(. I wouldn’t rush to visit but worth a look if you are in the area… enjoy the photos:<\/p>\n
