Thorpe Marsh – Cooling Tower Demolition in Progress<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A few shots from what was to be my last visit to Thorpe Marsh Power Station. I quite liked this site, there\u00a0wasn’t\u00a0a lot to see other than the cooling towers but they were more than enough of a draw to keep me coming back for more photos. This trip was my first ride out with my shiny\u00a0new Canon 7D after it was replaced by my insurance\u00a0company\u00a0following a run in with the sea :). As you can see from the shot above the towers were just in the process of being demolished. I later confirmed my initial thoughts that these cables were a new type of demolition tactic the contractors were\u00a0trialling\u00a0on the cooling towers at thorpe marsh. In hind sight it was probably a bit on the dangerous side being inside them at this point\u00a0especially\u00a0since they were already missing supports before the holes were torn into the side of them with these cables! A view looking up at one of the cooling towers this one had one of the large metal cables running between 2 holes right through the centre. They weren’t there last time and It looks like someone was foolishly trying to demolish it this way…<\/p>\n
