TB Hospital Mundesley<\/p><\/div>\n

History (borrowed from Norfolk Explorer on OS):<\/p>\n

An early purpose-built TB sanatorium in England opened in 1899 and provides a rare surviving example of a timber framed prefabricated hospital building. Originally there were also a number of moveable wooden huts in the grounds, looking rather like summerhouses on wheels, in which patients could spend all day (and all night if deemed necessary) in the fresh air without facing into the wind. In 1910, Dr Claude Lillingstone introduced the practice of artificial pneumothorax as a treatment for tuberculosis, having undergone the treatment himself in Norway where he had first fallen ill.<\/p>\n

Mundesley Hospital was refurbished in 1997 and was the Diana Princess of Wales Treatment Centre for Drug and Alcohol Problems. But that soon shut and it is now for sale for offer in region of \u00a3875k<\/p>\n

I don’t normally post fails but this place is too nice not to post at least the couple of externals we did get. It started off badly as we found police already on site as we approached in the early hours just at daybreak… after they had left we \u00a0took a different route but alas we could not find a way in… true to form we left moving onto the next site! We will be back…<\/p>\n

Such a beautiful building its been on my to do list for sometime I was glad to see even just the exterior!<\/p>\n
