Rossendale General Hospital – Wheel Chair<\/p><\/div>\n

First a little Gopro footage from the first trip around the old part of Rossendale from the blog post I did in January 2013<\/a>:<\/p>\n

<\/object><\/p>\n

I will probably get around to publishing another video with the GoPro footage from the 2 revisits. A little history on the\u00a0abandoned\u00a0Rossendale Hospital…\u00a0Rossendale hospital started out as a work house for the poor named Haslingden Work House.\u00a0I’m\u00a0not certain when exactly it was build, however there is an old photograph supposedly from 1905 and an\u00a0illustration\u00a0of the building dated around 1898 in which the building looks remarkably\u00a0familiar\u00a0to how it does today.<\/p>\n

The workhouse later became Moorland House Public Assistance Institution, and then Rossendale General Hospital which finally closed in 2010.<\/p>\n

Current plans are to demolish the existing buildings and replace them with 170 homes. new homes a mixture of affordable and high end housing. Rumour has it that demolition is to begin in 2013, however at the moment there are no signs of change at the site.<\/p>\n

Our Visit<\/strong><\/p>\n

3rd time to Rossendale this year,\u00a0visited\u00a0with Jamie, Pete Costello, Sam ‘The Mule’, Sonyes and Dystopia. This time we focuses on the old part again which in my\u00a0opinion\u00a0has a lot more character than the newer part. There is plenty of stuff left behind and a few beds and chairs etc to make for some interesting shots. Lacking the appeal of the working electrics in some parts of the newer blocks and of course the epic operating theatre (Shots can be found here<\/a>) I still enjoy this part of Rossendale. Favourite bits have to be the wheelchair on the top floor and the tea room! Not to forget the supply room where I forgot to take shots in this time and the blue room with the\u00a0resuscitation box again which I missed out on this report. Entry and exit was fun as usual with Dystopia being cheered as he emerged last out :).<\/p>\n
