Our visit<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

Visited with alot of friends from\u00a0http:\/\/www.ukurbex.com\/<\/a>\u00a0far too many to mention individually (sorry guys). We had a little mooch around this place before heading back to Leeds for some prearrange drinks \ud83d\ude42 Bit of a derp but a good day out in the snow \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

History<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

Founded by John Dyson who\u00a0began mining clay and making bricks in the early 1800s and from its inception the business prospered. The 1834 Sheffield trade directory lists – \u201cJohn Dyson – Brick Maker, Stannington\u201d which indicates that he ran the business on his own. However, by 1838 the business was listed as \u201cJohn Dyson and Son – Black clay miners and firebrick manufacturers, Griffs House, Stannington. The son referred to was John his eldest son<\/p>\n

Dyson’s where manufacturers of Refractory material, ceramics for the steel industry, they also produce firebacks and other household ceramic bricks for the likes of Aga’s etc. They have also been know to sell clay for use in Well Dressings<\/p>\n
