Established in the 1870&#8217;s from what \u00a0can gather, this steel producing site was not the first large-scale industrial complex in the area but it grew to become a dominating area of the surrounding landscape spreading over a large area encompassing mining, generation of power and the full production process from iron ore to steel.<\/p>\n<h1><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Our Visit<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Visited with Scott of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.darbiansphotography.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Darbian\u00a0Photography<\/a>, Matt and Andy K of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bcd-urbex.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Behind closed doors<\/a>, the steel plant was the first stop and much to our expectations most of the site had disappeared having been demolished, a large building housing silo&#8217;s however remained and provided the opportunity for a few nice shots, especially the upstairs which was covered in red dust. We quickly moved on to the power station only to find that strip out works had begun there and demolition was underway. Still glad we stopped off but the place certainly wasn&#8217;t what it used to be. I believe the power station\u00a0was to be completely demolished and with the speed which they were progressing it is highly likely that it will now be a pile of rubble.<\/p>\n<figure
