The cotton Mill for which they served to provide power was originally constructed in 1878 but grew significantly over the following century during which a town was built around the original mill and later the hydroelectric power plants which harnessed the energy of a nearby river. We didn&#8217;t have the opportunity to check out the rest of the site but I&#8217;m glad we were fortunate enough to see these beautiful turbines whilst they still exist in situ. I believe the plan is to restore the former mill and this associated power plant into a working museum, however whether those plans will pan out or not remains to be seen.
