Copyright and use of images

All images on this website are all rights reserved full copyright of Proj3ct M4yh3m and consent must be sought for any type of reproductions whether digital or physical. Please us the Contact Form on my website if you are interested in licencing any of my photographs or if you would like to purchase prints.

Social media policy

Whilst the images on this website are all rights reserved full copyright, I am happy, and would encourage for the images and any links to articles to be shared on most forms of social media outlets including by not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Tumblr, Reddit etc

When should I seek permission

If you would like to use any of my images for use as part of a commercial project, for example; advertising, book covers, album art, or to promote and event either in print or digital format including website usage, whether any money is to be gained from the project or not I would please request that you contact me to discuss the usage in order for me to consider allowing the use. Where any money is to be gained from the project whether directly or indirectly as advertising or use on websites which contain advertisements including but not limited to Google Adsense then licencing fees will apply. I price my images fairly and competitively in respect of comparative stock websites and offer flexible licencing terms.

Who owns the copyright on photographs?
Under law, it is the photographer who will own copyright on any photos he/she has taken, with the following exceptions:

  1. If the photographer is an employee of the company the photos are taken for, or is an employee of a company instructed to take the photos, the photographer will be acting on behalf of his/her employer, and the company the photographer works for will own the copyright.
  2. If there is an agreement that assigns copyright to another party

In all other cases, the photographer will retain the copyright, if the photographer has been paid for his work, the payment will be for the photographer’s time and typically an allocated number of prints. The copyright to the photos will remain with the photographer, and therefore any reproduction without permission would be an infringement of copyright.

Using the work of others

As with all copyright work, you should first obtain permission from the copyright owner before you use someone else’s work. You should also be prepared to pay a fee, as many photographers will charge you for using their work.

Only the copyright owner, (or his/her authorised representative), can give permission, so you should contact the photographer, or his/her company, directly for consent. For images published on the Internet, it is typical to contact the webmaster of the site in the first instance, unless the site provides contact details for the owner of the images.

The copyright owner has no obligation to allow you to use their work, and can refuse permission for any reason.

An interesting article of bogus excuses that people use when they steal photographs and use them without the photographers permission: http://www.francisvachon.com/blog/10-bogus-excuses-to-use-a-photo-you-found-on-the-internet/

Note to infringing parties

Please be aware that I take the copyright of my photos seriously. Any misuse of my images including but not limited to reposting without permission and proper credit or rehosting of the images without permission will result in a copyright removal request. Should I not be able to contact you either through lack of contact information or failure to respond within a reasonable time frame I will issue a DMCA take down request to the host or your servers.

Please ask before you share my images. If you wish to use them commercially please contact me using the contact page on the left hand navigation bar.
