Château Lumiere – Main Entrance Hall

History

The abandoned but very grand Château Lumiere was built for the descendant of a wealthy tobacco tycoon the Neo-Baroque style building was erected in the early 1900′s. The building is protected and surprisingly appears in reasonable shape considering that information suggests that it has been largely unoccupied since the 1950’s.

Our Visit

Visited this time with Kriegaffe9 and Andy K we arrived at around 11pm and made our way quietly into one of the upstairs bedrooms with our sleeping bags and camera gear. After a few shots of whisky we got our heads down for a few hours before rising with the sun to capture our shots. Thanks to Andy for lending me his 15mm Fisheye lens which gave me a different perspective from the photographs taken on my last visit and was the lens I used in the majority this time round. The colours and the light in this place are just fantastic, although I think the sunlight was a little more flattering last visit I’m really happy with the photos from this visit and I think the fish eye lens quite suits the place 🙂
