Originally built in 1781 the now derelict Sunnyside Lunatic Asylum is located in the town of Montrose, Scotland. The original building was later replaced in 1858 by the much larger buildings that was later repurposed as the hospital outgrew its size limitations…
Briefly the abandoned High Royds Asylum opened in 1888 and closed in 2003 since then the site has been undergoing development into luxury apartments most of which are now complete. The main admin building still remains empty boasting some of its original features…

Briefly Severalls Lunatic Asylum aka The Second Essex County Asylum aka Severalls Hospital was built in 1910 and opened in 1913. At its peak the Asylum could house 2000 patients making it one of the largest in the country. Based upon the Echelon Asylum Plan Severalls has become well known for its spiralling Corridors which connect various buildings and the vast amount of bay windows within the wards.

It was Boxing day, we decided to have a bit of a gathering for a few beverages and a bit of lunch in the main hall 🙂 Visited with too many people to count let alone list!
